About Manuka Honey

About us

We started working with landowners years before our stripy little friends made a single drop of honey. As part of our promise to take care of everybody and every bee, our partnerships are built on trust and mutual benefit. Nowadays, these partnerships include our valued wholesale and distribution partners, the independent labs that test our honey, and the likeminded brands and ambassadors we work with to spread the word.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT MANUKA HONEY?

Manuka honey is special because of limited quantity.  Manuka trees grow mostly in New Zealand and only flower for a few weeks every year (2-6 weeks approximately) so there is a limited time and quantity for it to be made. Besides, the amount of Manuka honey made each year can also be influenced by weather conditions and how much nectar the flowers produce

Honey is one of the few natural products that are self-preserving. Unlike most products, it does not need to be kept in the refrigerator after opening. The optimum temperature to store honey is between 14-20°C. The best way to store honey is in a cupboard, away from heat sources and direct sunlight

Manuka honey is unique to New Zealand and to obtain pure Manuka honey is a specialised task for beekeepers. Manuka honey is more difficult to extract and has a limited harvest period as it is only collected at certain times of the year in a short 2-6 week time frame.   The health benefits of Manuka honey create high demand for this unique product from around the world.

Manuka honey has been shown to have excellent benefits for the skin. Genuine Manuka honey is the perfect natural alternative for helping manage acne and skin infections. It is also a natural moisturiser that improves skin hydration because it is able to absorb moisture directly from the air and draw it into the skin.

Honey is equal parts indulgence and pantry staple for your cooking. Great for glazing to get that lovely brown crispness, a natural preservative for pickles and sauces, it also retains moisture for deliciously dense, moist cakes, with a touch of colour.

Children aged over 1 year old can eat our honey safely.

Like other honey, people who are allergic to bees might have allergic reaction when consuming Manuka honey.  Excessive use of honey create risk of a rise in blood sugar if taken orally.   Also, please consult your doctor for possible interaction with honey if you are taking various medicines
